Hello future umpires !, 

This message is for all members of WHC who are willing to commit to some umpiring throughout the season and beyond. It is my intention to find, train and encourage more umpiring in the club. We are trying to organise someone from hockey Ireland to run a course in WHC for u18 members to get competent with the rules of the game and begin to enjoy hockey more from another perspective. This course will automatically place you in a list or group chat the club will compile of young umpires who are interested in giving umpiring a go.  More senior members are also welcome. The aim is to have a group of people ready and standing by for any matches home or away who are willing to umpire for WHC. It will also become mandatory for any junior players wanting to go senior to complete an assessment of the rules before moving up and this is a wonderful way to take part. 

To conclude we are making a sub branch of people, willing and able to umpire for WHC, ready to be called on when needed. Training will be supplied and so will payment at each match. This will be a fantastic way for more parents to get involved as well as younger  players to get to know the rules more before senior hockey.  The stress for coaches trying to organise fixtures and players as well as an umpire hopefully will be over, as this plan takes place.
